COPENHAGEN PIANO QUARTET
Copenhagen Piano Quartet is a young and very talented piano quartet with roots in Denmark, the Czeck Republic and Poland, consisting of Benedikte Damgaard, violin, Kristina Fialova, viola, Adam Stadnicki, cello and Neel Teilmann, piano. The quartet has won Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition in Italy in 2013 and The Royal Danish Academy of Music’s chamber music competition in 2012 and has recieved prizes at P2s chamber music competition 2014 in Copenhagen and at the international Johannes Brahms competition in Austria in 2012.
The quartet was formed in 2010 and the four members now study as an ensemble in the soloist class at The Royal Danish Academy of Music with chamber music professot Tim Frederiksen and pianist and lecturer Jens Elvekjær (from Trio con Brio). The quartet will play their debut concerto at the Academy in 2015. By participating in master classes the quartet has had the opportunity to work with capacities such as the Fauré Quartett, Leif-Ove Andsnes, Christian Ihle Hadland and Lars Anders Tomter. The quartet recieved a scholarship from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation in 2013, as well as one from the Jacob Gade Foundation.
The quartet has played an extensive number of concerts in Denark as well as in Norway, Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany and in the current concert season they have expanded their tour activities all the way to China.
At the moment the quartet is recording the complete piano quartets by Friedrich Kuhlau on the record label Dacapo.
