Winner of Queen Elisabeth Competition 2001

Copenhagen Summer Festival starts with a first class concert with one of internationally most outstanding young violinists, Baiba Skride (b 1981 in Riga). Baiba Skride has played as a soloist with the most important orchestras of both Europe and the USA.

A presentation of one of our youngest piano trios. The three young musicians study at The Royal Danish Academy of Music.

David Bogorad (violin) Winner of Øresunds Solist 2005, Per Salo (piano)

Neel Bramsnæs Teilmann (piano) Winner of The Steinway Competition 2004

Young talents

David Bogorad has won prizes in The Jacob Gade violin competition, The Berlingske Music Competition and Øresunds Solist. He is born in 1986 and studyes, among others, with prof. Milan Vitek in the USA.

Kim Bak Dinitzen and Ursula Smith, cello duo

Kim Bak Dinitzen is one of Denmark's leading cellists. He is born in 1963 and holds the position of solo cellist at Det Kgl. Kapel together with solo concerts in both Europe and the USA. His has recorded cello music by, among others, Britten and Faure.

Ursula Smith is born in England in 1965. She has won prizes at, among others, the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and is currently playing with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Concerto Copenhagen.

Hafnia Chamber Orchestra, Simon Casali-Krzentowski (conductor)

Young talents

The Hafnia Chamber Orchestra is a recently founded chamber orchester with students from The Royal Danish Academy of Music. The conductor is the talented Dutch guest student, Simon Casali-Krentowski.

Young classical talents

Toke Møldrup (cello), Tanja Zapolski (piano)

23 year old Toke Møldrup recently gave a well received debut concert and is already an experienced soloist in Denmark as well as abroad. He has received Jacob Gade Legatet and is also playing the cello in the Paizo Quartet. Today he plays together with Tanja Zapolski, who is one of Denmarks's most talented young pianists.

Sunday July 31 - 4:30 PM

Kim Sjøgren (violin), Poul Rosenbaum (piano)

Kim Sjøgren is one of Denmark's most remarkable talents ever. He reaches the highest standards on the classical music scene and is at the same time a popular and many talented entertainer. He has won many prizes, has been concert master at Det Kgl. Kapel og plays regularly with leading symphony orchestras. And he has recently been appointed as professor of violin at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Århus. Today he plays together with his colleague and friend Poul Rosenbaum, who has recorded more than 20 cd's, works as an administrator and music teacher as well as playing solo concerts on the piano.

Janne Fredens (cello) and Søren Rastogi (piano)

Young talents

Janne Fredens and Søren Rastogi both played their debut concerts this winter. Janne Fredens has received, among others, the Jacob Gade Legat and plays the cello in the Jalina Trio. Søren Rastogi has won several prizes - among others Nordisk Pianistkonkurrences - and has played as a solist with several orchestra in Denmark.

Sylvia Viertel (violin), Andreas Frölich (piano), Alexander Hülshoff (cello)

Sylvia Vertel is professor of violin in Graz (Austria). She has a brilliant carrier as a solist and chamber musician in Europe and in both North and South America. She has also been professor of violin at the Music Academy in Århus og concert master at Det Kgl. Kapel. She has recorded several cd's together with Andreas Frölich and Alexander Hülshoff.

Thomas Clausen, piano solo

One of Denmark’s best jazz pianists in an outstanding solo performance. Thomas Clausen is strongly influenced by Brazilian music and is one of Denmark's most creative composers.

Elisabeth Zeuthen Schneider (violin), Ulrik Stærk (piano)

This is two of Denmark's most outstanding chamber musicians, who have played together for more than 10 years and recorded several cd's. They are both teach at The Royal Danish Acedemy of Music.

Elna Carr (violin), Håkan Quennerstedt (piano)

Young talents

Elna Carr is born in 1988 and has played the violin since the age of 4. She won "Årets Skånske Stjerneskud" in 1999 and Øresunds Solist in 2005. She studies at the Music Academy of Falun.

Sergei Azizian (violin), Elena Semishina (piano)

Den armensk fødte Sergei Azizian er violinprofessor ved Det Kgl. Danske Musikkonservatorium i København og er desuden koncertmester i Sjællands Symfoniorkester. Han er en af de mest markante musikere i dansk musikliv og spiller her sammen med pianisten Elena Semishina, som har en omfattende solistisk karriere og desuden er professor på Musikkonservatoriet i Skt. Petersborg.
