KØBENHAVNS YNGRE STRYGERE

Københavns Yngre Strygere blev dannet i foråret 1992, og har siden bestået af ca. 30 musikere i alderen 15-30 år. Orkesteret består af en blanding af musikstuderende og talentfulde amatører, som danner et dynamisk og højt engageret ensemble. Fast dirigent er Morten Ryelund.

KYS mødes ved tre årlige produktioner, hvor orkestret øver intensivt og afslutter med en turné. Siden debuten i 1992 har orkesteret optrådt i Italien, Frankrig, Slovakiet, Tjekkiet, Østrig, Tyskland, Irland, Sverige og Norge samt talrige steder i Danmark, hvor to af de tre årlige turnéer finder sted. I 1994 indspillede KYS en CD med musik af Edward Grieg og Carl Nielsen. Orkesteret har desuden medvirket på en CD med musik af Poul Schierbeck og "At Dawn in Rivendell" - musik til J.R.R. Tolkiens "Ringenes Herre" komponeret af Caspar Reiff og Peter Hall.

Senest har KYS, i samarbejde med Det kongelige Bibliotek, Statens museum for Kunst, Skagens Museum og Den hirschsprungske Samling indspillet en DVD/CD indeholdende følgende værker: J. P. E. Hartmann: "Karakterstykker for Stryge-orkester, No. 1-3", Op. 81, Niels W. Gade: "Novelletten für Streichorchester", Op. 58, Edward Grieg: "To Elegiske Melodier", Op. 34 samt Carl Nielsen: "Suite for strygeorkester", Op. 1.

KYS' repertoire spænder fra barok til moderne musik, inklusive værker komponeret til orkesteret. Udover at optræde for almindeligt publikum, gør orkesteret meget for at nå unge lyttere gennem koncerter på folkeskoler, højskoler og lign.

KYS har gennem de seneste år optrådt med solister som Nikolaj Koppel, Dmitri Golovanov, Michael Brydenfeldt, Jan-Erik Gustafsson, Roland Pöntinen, Sergei Nakariakov, Jesper Juul Sørensen, Johannes Søe Hansen og senest med Henrik Brendstrup.

 

MORTEN RYELUND - dirigent

KYS’ faste dirigent Morten Ryelund (f.1970) er uddannet violinist fra Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium (diplomeksamen 1995), og sideløbende hermed har han modtaget undervisning i direktion af bl.a.: Markus Lehtinen, Frans Rasmussen og Dan-Oluf Stenlund. Fra 1997-2001 direktions-studier i Skt. Petersborg.

I 1991-92 var Morten Ryelund med til at danne Københavns Yngre Strygere, og han har siden dirigeret orkesteret ved over 150 koncerter i Danmark og udlandet. Han er tillige medstifter og fast dirigent for Copenhagen Chamber Orchestra og har i perioder været fast tilknyttet Lyngby-Taarbæk Symfoniorkester, Københavns Ungdoms Symfoniorkester og Amatørsymfonikerne. Herudover har Morten Ryelund bl.a. dirigeret: Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, Vestjysk Symfoniorkester, Odense Symfoniorkester, Ålborg Symfoniorkester, Stockholm Sinfonietta, Bergen Kammerorkester, Universitetskoret Lille Muko, Novosibirsk Kammerorkester og Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen.

Morten Ryelund har indspillet CD med bl.a. KYS, Ensemble 2000, The Tolkien Ensemble og senest Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen med Anders Nordentofts værk "On this Planet".

Morten Ryelund har modtaget adskillige priser og legater, herunder Arne Hammelboes Uddannelseslegat (uddelt af Dansk Kapelmesterforening) og "Den Gule Enkes Legat".

DANIEL BOGORAD f. 1988

Daniel began his musical training on the violin, but quickly switched to the piano - first with Mark Schneider, and then Jesper Mark Pedersen. He has performed in recitals, music school concerts and piano festivals.

As a member of the Tivoli Boys Guard Daniel has studied oboe with Max Artved, solo oboist of the Danish Radio Symphony, since the fall of 1999. There have also been supplementary lessons from Henrik Goldschmidt, solo oboist in the Royal Danish Orchestra.

Daniel has played both oboe and English horn with the Tivoli Boys Guard band, which includes numerous parades and concerts in Denmark and abroad. He studies conducting with Sven Kragelund of the Tivoli Boys Guard band, where Daniel is this season’s conductor.

Daniel has performed in Lillerød Church and Opstandelses Church in Albertslund, in concerts as well as church services. Daniel has participated in the Berlingske Classical Music Competition for 4 years, winning 2nd and 1st prizes, and this year the esteemed Gold Medal. He was also a prize winner in the Øresund Solo Competition.

This fall Daniel will begin MGK at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium. He will continue his studies on the oboe with Max Artved, with supplementary lessons from Ole Henrik Dahl, professor at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.

 

DAVID BOGORAD f. 1986

David Bogorad has played the violin since he was 5-1/2 years old. His former teachers include: Øssur Bæk, Shannon Hawes and Tutter Givskov. Most recently he has studied with Odin Rathnam, concertmaster of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in the U.S.

He has also had supplementary lessons with Kurt Nikkanen (free-lance soloist and concertmaster at the New York City Ballet), Sally Thomas (professor at the Julliard School of Music) and Patinka Kopec (professor at the Manhattan School of Music), Milan Vitek, Serguei Azizian and Anker Buch. Master classes include: Aaron Rosand, Gil Shaham, Nikolaj Znaider, Lars Bjørnkjær, Milan Vitek and Anker Buch. David has also attended summer camps in the U.S. (Meadowmount School of Music), the Czech Republic (Master classes w. Milan Vitek) and Denmark (Danish Strings and Strygere på Mors).

David has been a member of several youth orchestras in Denmark and the U.S., including the position of concertmaster in the Harrisburg Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed numerous solo concerts and recitals in Denmark and internationally, as soloist with DUSIKA performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and "Winter" from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Harrisburg Youth Symphony Orchestra.

David was awarded a 1st prize at the Jacob Gade Violin Competition and at the Berlingske Classical Music Competition in 2002.

As a boy soprano, David was a soloist in the Copenhagen Boys Choir and sang in "The Magic Flute" at The Royal Theater at the age of 12-13.

This fall David will begin Oberlin Conservatory in the U.S. as a scholarship recipient with professor Milan Vitek.
