Andreas Brantelid

Andreas Brantelid was born into a family of musicians Copenhagen, Denmark in October 1987. He received his first cello before the age of 4 and gave his first concert as a soloist at the age of 11.

Since then, performances, prizes and more prizes have followed. Andreas Brantelid has performed with all the symphony orchestras in Copenhagen and in Sweden’s southerly province of Scania. In February of 2006, he won the final Swedish round of the EBU contest for young musicians held at the Helsingborg Konzerthus with a performance of Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major.

In the summer of 2002, he began regular collaboration with pianist Bengt Forsberg. Since 2002, he has been studying with Professor Thorleif Thedéen of the Edsberg Institute of Music near Stockholm.

Andreas Brantelid performs on a cello made in 1690 by Giovanni Grancino and sponsored by The Augustus Fund.
